Orphan 03:34
All the wild children know Leave a good heart alone You should bury family arms Feel the weight Of a tide rising high on your wings In a world so silent In a girl so wise You are home here, orphan Reemerge so numb All the hours that we span Take your time, know your plan There’s an art, baby Even to this One you steal, one you heal, one you miss In a world so silent In a girl so wise You are home here, orphan Reemerge so numb You are home here, orphan Reemerge so numb

Paper Cuts 01:59
Curse upon your house You pawn your watch, you pawn your gold You’ve been living lies and tying ties Forty dead-end years old Paper cuts and giving up Afraid of your own reflection Nothing says “I love you” like, “I did it for your own protection” You jump, I jump Do you need me? You jump, I jump Do you need me? Better things, the reckoning The emptying of your eyes The elephant sags the floor Hear the wood creak at night Paper cuts and giving up You never get good No, you never get good You jump, I jump Do you need me? You jump, I jump Do you need me?

I couldn’t get enough of your eyes When we’d lay around the ground we fought alone Still life in stone If you just lay where you are, I’ll be home If you just lay where you are, I’ll be home Saturday The red leaves shed like years of shame In your room, quiet I couldn’t hide my grateful eyes from you In another state Years went and you got lost somewhere I kept your picture Always keep your phantom eyes on me If you just lay where you are, I’ll be home If you just lay where you are, I’ll be home
4.
The River 02:06
I need a way back Back to the river And you might be young But you’re not young Only an aristocratic enemy You’ve been better than you ever had to be to me Come on, need a way back Come on, home to the river And you might be young But you’re not young Only an aristocratic empty gaze You’ve been sleeping in Remember when? Remember the days? Go back to the river Come on, home to the river

Yellow balloons Rising in the sky over you Yellow balloons It’s the fabric of the world you’re bleeding into If I only stayed The barricades Between us would fall so fast The perfect fit A tourniquet In your eyes I see no time Yellow balloons They tore through a sea of flags to rescue you Yellow balloons It’s the fabric of the world you’re bleeding into This gives us more than it takes Their eyes keep saying what I can’t say But they take so much So much away Maybe this gives us more than it takes Their eyes keep saying what I can’t say But they take so much So much away Yellow balloons Rising in the sky over you Yellow balloons It’s the wisdom of a child we’re leaning into

Here With Me 03:54
Participate in your life a bit Would you cry for me I’ll do the same And although eyes are blue No one cries for you And when they’re watching you What do you say You don’t dance with the devil baby I need you here with me tonight I need you here with me You don’t dance with the devil baby I need you here with me tonight I need you here with me And although eyes are blue No one cries for you And when they’re watching you What do you say You don’t dance with the devil baby I need you here with me tonight I need you here with me You don’t dance with the devil baby I need you here with me tonight I need you here with me

Scary where to go from here Scary how I love you I am in awe of All you can do with your Tired brittle hands You are so much more than The night hunting you Did I ever lend you rest when you fell down girl Scary how I love you The care you take, take care The care you take, take care The care you take We are so much more now At night we hum to her She will always Shine on you when you fall down girl And I’ll be around, girl Yeah, I’ll be around, girl And I’ll be around, girl Remember everything She is a room in our house Remember everything She is a piece of us now

Slow My Eyes 02:20
Onward, upward Sold you a garden It’s time to tend Well I know your sign How it’s telling me All the pain you’ve seen Slow my eyes down Slow my eyes Slow my eyes Fade into light

about

Glenrose II examines the intersection of personal and public loss. It is inspired by Brendan Little’s experience as one of a team of caretakers for a terminally ill family member who passed away from cancer in April 2013, just as the week-long chaos of the Boston Marathon bombing was unfolding. The album seeks to contextualize a highly personal loss in the immediate aftermath of a public act of terror.

Little wrote, produced, and recorded all instruments for the album himself in his former apartment on Glenrose Road in Dorchester MA.

This album is dedicated to Nance, to the lost, and to survivors trying to put the pieces back together.
